Abercrombie Fitch Offers Jersey Shore's The Situation Cash To put on Someone Else's Clothes


NEW ALBANY, Ohio A clothing company is offering money to Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his fellow "Jersey Shore" cast members so they'll stop wearing the brand on the program.


Abercrombie Fitch Co. says in a news release posted Tuesday abercrombie and fitch soldes that it's concerned that having Sorrentino seen in its clothing could cause "significant damage" towards the company's image.


Abercrombie says an association towards the Situation is the opposite of the "aspirational nature" of its brand and might be "distressing" to abercrombie france customers. The Ohiobased retailer says it's offered a "substantial payment" to Sorrentino and producers from the MTV show so he'll wear something else.


The organization says it's also making the offer to other people in the hardpartying cast.


An MTV spokeswoman did not immediately return messages for comment on Wednesday.

"No news isn't news, and bad news is the best news," says Robert Passikoff, a brandname research expert. The advantage of it, he notes, is the fact that unlike many recent fu脽balltrikots celebrity image battles, from Padraig harrington to Charlie Sheen, "This is imagedriven, not scandaldriven."


For the reason that arena, Abercrombie might have something to get rid of. After losing its edge in recent years, Abercrombie has regained its cult status and now ranks second only to J. Crew because the apparel brand with the most brand loyalty, says a February survey of 46,000 consumers by Passikoff's research firm, Brand Keys.
